OCC Intel Chopper

Intel_Chopper_pano.jpg

Admist company wide lay-offs and serious budget cuts, Intel finds enough money to have a $100,000+ Orange County Chopper made for them. Hey everybody, here's where your bonus went!

2007 Italian Concours in Seattle

sic-11.jpg

Another great show, this time in Des Moines, Washington. All Italian motorcycles was the focus of this year's show. Unfortunately, no scooters showed up this year.

1971 VW Bay Window Camper

westbay02.jpg

Originally white, some PO along the line gave it a crappy green paint job. In desperate need of cosmetics and with a hit at the nose, the price was too good to pass up. Some TLC and an engine and she'll be ready for the road! Update: Now for sale since we have our '76 which is a good runner.

1976 Riviera Sundowner VW Camper Bus

IMG_4949.JPG

Our "new" Riviera Sundowner Camper in stock school bus yellow! Sparse camping interior but we plan on a custom interior in the near future. Nice find, good price, runs good, and LOTS of space. We finally have our station wagon (that's what these were originally labeled back in the day) that can hold the kids and a whole lotta other stuff at once :-)

Festoon dome light LED swap

007.JPG

I swapped out the two festoon incandescent bulbs for LED units. The replacement is a 42mm 8 5050 SMD bright white. 5050 is the size for bright light (50=5.0mm so 5mm square LED). Easy operation, just pull out the standard bulb and pop in the LED unit. Light output is GREAT! Low power consumption is a plus, too. I found the orientation (polarity) doesn't matter...cool. Camera setting was at ISO 3200 as it gave the most realistic images.

1976 Apache Royal Camper

20210715_150616.jpg

Our 1976 Apache Royal camper. It was fun to fix up and improve upon it. Really enjoyed camping in it when the kids were young (elementary school). However, now that the kids are in their teens the missus says we need a bigger unit or else fix up our 1976 VW Bus.

Motorcycle tire vise upgrade331 viewsHere is my Sport Classic in the new Derek Weaver vise.

I kept the original wheel stop because it is in a stronger mounting location. Using the supplied DW wheel stop would require mounting it on the vertical strip just under the lift bed. That is welded on and could possibly bend if struck too hard when rolling the bike against it. It would also require drilling two more holes...meh, why bother?

Jetta side mirror replacement318 viewsWhat the interior looks like. I set the mirror so it was centered in the housing. I started at the 11 o'clock position and worked my way anti-clockwise (aka counter-clockwise), gently prying the mirror clips away from the ring mount.Aug 13, 2013
